Program Description

The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) has provided financial support to the Good Governance Program (GGP). The GGP works in areas of good governance, anti-corruption, consumer rights, peace and human rights. With a view to promoting public debate on policy issues, it broadcasts a weekly radio program on good governance and a fortnightly television program, conducts public hearings (Pro Public is the pioneer institution to start the public hearing culture in Nepal) and trainings on good governance and human rights at both local and national levels. It is also a leading publisher of good governance magazines in both Nepali & English languages.

Goal

Peace, inclusive democracy & good governance promoted at all levels.

Purpose

Capacity of civil society to advocate for peace, inclusive democracy, respect of human rights and good governance enhanced.

Outputs

	Peace initiatives taken up by civil society at all levels are promoted.
	The space for inclusive democracy is widened.
	Human Rights violations & abuses committed by conflicting parties and impunity are reduced by documenting and sharing cases with relevant national and international partners.
	The voice of disadvantaged groups (poor people, i.e. less than 1 USD /day, who are discriminated based on caste, gender and/or ethnicity), with a strong focus on service delivery, is heard.
	The capacity of Good Governance Clubs to advocate for peace, democracy, human rights & good governance is enhanced and their composition is made more inclusive.
